DPolicy & Governance

You as a Local policy maker

You know your municipality like no one else. Discover how you can use the local economy, spatial planning and community policy as a lever for a regenerative future — close to home and tangible.

The challenge

Where you as a local policy maker can make the difference

Local governments are closest to the people. You are the one who makes systemic change tangible — concrete, visible, and with direct impact on the daily lives of citizens.

Local governments are where systemic change becomes most concrete

National and European frameworks set the rules of the game — but you translate them into what people experience in their daily lives. That position gives an influence that policy makers further away never have: visibility, proximity, trust.

With the right language you can shift expectations — and create new possibilities

Citizens look for local answers to structural questions. Those who can name that tension — clearly, honestly, with an alternative perspective — build trust rather than lose it. And in doing so they lay the foundation for real movement.

LoREco: a regenerative economy at municipal level

A concrete example of what a local administration can set in motion — together with strong partners.

LoREco

In Lichtervelde, Happonomy worked together with Howest, Muntuit and Fairfin to build LoREco — a local regenerative economy that grows "from the ground up". The project developed concrete tools, including a payment app that stimulates local exchange and rewards residents for regenerative activities in the municipality.
